The City of Markham has expanded their digital signage communications network, unveiled a new 10.5’ x 6’ outdoor digital sign on Hwy 7 and Town Centre Blvd.
Supplied by Everest Signs and powered by Capital Network’s Audience for Android advanced content management system, the outdoor sign was intended as a tool for promoting the newly-renovated Flato Markham Theatre. Theatre staff were provided with secure user accounts and easy-to-use premade templates in order to schedule, publish and manage content remotely, using the outdoor sign to promote upcoming events, live performances, and the availability of the venue for meetings, conferences galas and other social gathering.
When the 527-seat, state-of-the-art stage closed to support the City’s “Break the Chain” movement to curtail the spread of COVID-19, there were suddenly no live events or performances to promote. The flexibility of the Audience platform allowed the City of Markham to quickly leverage the outdoor sign as a health and safety communications channel instead, easily granting remote scheduling access to the City’s Emergency Operation Centre, and adding the Theatre sign to the co-ordinated network of indoor and outdoor displays already being used to share up-to-date public health information with residents.
As circumstances change, and theatre staff begin to schedule more venue related content, the Audience platform’s intelligent scheduling engine will ensure that the outdoor digital sign will respond fluidly, automatically sharing screen time between different content contributors with no need to edit playlists.
